HELENA - After former governor Brian Schweitzer (D-MT) announced his intention not to run for U.S. Senate in 2014, the grassroots group "Montana Wants Brian" is calling for him to reconsider his decision.
"He's the right man for the job. I've had Democrats and Republicans say that he's a great person. He's not a Democrat in the true sense; he's not a Republican in the true sense. He really is just a populist. [We are] trying to get him to really rethink and reconsider and show him that there is the support of Montana, the Montana population," said Brad Dusenbery, a volunteer for the movement who spoke to MTN News on the phone from Missoula.
This group is also associated with the "Draft Brian Schweitzer" movement that petitioned to get the former governor to seek the Senate seat after U.S. Senator Max Baucus (D-MT) announced that he would not run for reelection in 2014.
