HELENA - The Montana Army National Guard's 189th General Support Aviation brigade deployed to Afghanistan one year ago, and on Wednesday, the soldiers came back home.
The soldiers worked in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and during their deployment, the soldiers maintained and flew CH-47 Chinook aircraft.
As soon as the soldiers got off the plane, they were greeted by cheering family and friends, along with Montana governor Steve Bullock.
"I am home with my family and my wife, it is the greatest feeling I have ever had," soldier Cody Johnson said.
His wife Danire was equally full of joy: "I have been so excited, I don't know how to explain it actually, it has been crazy."
"He is going to go spend some time with his wife and tomorrow we are going to have a family dinner - and we still have our Christmas tree up, so we are going to go have Christmas!," added Cody's mother Susan Day.
