BIG SKY - It's a huge responsibility to ensure the safety of skiers, and as mountains across Montana open for the season, a handful of people are prepping for the worst and hoping for the best.
Anytime you go skiing you assume a certain amount of risk, but within the bounds of any ski resort, you'll find the ski patrol, who area there to help minimize that risk.
The patrol at Moonlight Basin in Big Sky have been getting ready for opening day and have been training for just about any scenario you can think of
Combined with Big Sky Resort, Moonlight Basin has over 5,500 acres of downhill terrain, and the ski patrol has their work cut out for them, and will continue training through the season.
Moonlight Basin opens for the season December 8th, which is also the planned opening date for Whitefish Mountain Resort.
