Montana is well-known for its ever-changing weather, but also tops the list when it comes to ice jams.
Big Sky Country's vast river and stream system faces more ice jams than any other state in the nation.
In addition, it comes in first place for the state with the most deaths due to ice jams.
As we move into the late winter months and eventually spring, it's important to watch for developing jams.
According to the National Weather Service, 2/3 of Montana's ice jams occur in February and March.
