BUTTE - It's a historic day for Butte because it's the first time the Mining City is hosting the Montana Pride celebration.
Butte resident D.J. Wonnacott put in a bid to have the celebration come here and won.
In the past, the event has been held in Missoula, Bozeman and Kalispell.
Tonight is opening speeches and a meet and greet at the Copper King Hotel and Convention Center. Tomorrow a parade will start at the Original Mine and 10 a.m. and run south to Naranche Stadium.
"It's really nice to be able to share that with other people and show other people that are going through a difficult time or a tough process that there are people that support," Wonnacott said.
