CODY, WY - A Montana man, accused of kidnapping and assaulting a Cody, Wyoming girl, will appear in court today for the first time in more than two months.
Jesse Speer, 39, is currently behind bars in the Park County Detention Facility on a $2 million cash bond. He is scheduled to appear at 1 p.m. in a Cody courtroom to faces charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault and use of a firearm.
In November, Speer waved his right to a hearing to determine if there was enough evidence in the case to proceed.
Speer was arrested in Belgrade nearly a week after the Oct. 8 abduction and assault of the 11-year-old girl in Cody. He was stopped by authorities while driving his white Toyota 4-Runner in Belgrade on Oct. 13.
Surveillance cameras and witnesses led authorities to Speer who was a photographer in the Bozeman area and who most recently lived in Manhattan.
He was held in the Gallatin County Detention Center then transported back to Park County to face charges.
