Missoula man faces guns, sex assault charges

MISSOULA - Police say a 20-year-old homeless man has been arrested and charged with misdemeanor sexual assault, felony assault with a weapon, and misdemeanor criminal trespassing.

The Missoula Police Department responded to a sexual assault in the 2000 block of Cooper Street early Sunday morning.

Authorities say that when officers knocked on the victim's door, the assailant answered the door and pointed a handgun at the them.

The officers drew their weapon and convinced the man to put down his. As it turns out the weapon was only a BB gun, and the man was taken into police custody.
