MISSOULA - Kye Alan Sparling has been charged with felony assault on a minor, accused of hitting his 2-year-old son several times while the child stayed with him in Missoula.
Police in Helena responded to St. Peter's Hospital on March 11 for a report of a child who had bruises on his body and scratches on his face.
The mother told the officers that her son was staying with his father in Missoula for the past two weeks.
She said that she asked Sparling what happened to the boy and he reportedly replied, "I hit him too hard."
The boy told his mother that he was in trouble and that "Daddy hit me."
Doctors found bruises in several places on the boy's body, including his cheek, shoulder, back, and armpit.
Sparling said he turned himself into police.
He's now in jail on a $25,000 bail, and he can't have contact with his son.
