Military releases more information about soldier death in Afghanistan

UPDATE: More information released Tuesday night about a Sidney Montana native killed in Afghanistan.

The North Dakota National Guard confirms Sergeant First Class Darren Linde died during an attack on Monday December 3rd. The soldiers were conducting route clearance operations when an improvised explosive device struck their vehicle in southern Afghanistan.

The highly decorated 41-year-old had also served in the Montana Army National Guard from 2005 to 2006.
According to Linde's facebook page he recently moved to Devils Lake from Sidney. He leaves behind a wife and four children.

Linde served as a full-time instructor with the North Dakota National Guard's 164th Regional Training Institute at Camp Grafton, in Devil's Lake.

This was Linde's second tour of duty.

20-year-old Specialist Tyler Orgaard of Bismark also died in the attack. A third soldier in their unit was wounded.
