PORTLAND, OREGON - David Oliver Relin, co-author of Three Cups of Tea, has taken his own life, according to the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office.
The Medical Examiner's office says Relin died of blunt force trauma to the head in the Portland suburb of Corbett.
Relin co-authored the book "Three Cups of Tea" with Greg Mortenson. Both Mortenson and the book have been in the headlines over the past year after CBS' "60 Minutes" and author Jon Krakauer suggested that parts of the book were fabricated. The book has sold over four million copies. A best-selling author and mountaineer, Krakauer was one of Mortenson's early backers that later withdrew support.
