We may have just recovered from the 2012 election, but Saturday's 35th Annual Mansfield-Metcalf dinner was all about focusing on the re-election campaign of U.S. Senator Max Baucus (D-MT).

The dinner, hosted by the Montana Democratic Party, featured Jim Messina as a guest. Messina served as President Obama's campaign manager in his 2012 re-election. He is also a good friend of Baucus' and said he'll be there to help and support him in 2014.

"You know, quite frankly Montana has a huge asset in Max Baucus. Chairman of the most powerful committee, ability to get big things done in Montana. There's thousands of jobs across Montana that are created in part because the work Max has done on the highway bill, on taxes - and Montanans understand how important it is to have an ally like Max Baucus," said Messina, who is now the head of Organizing For Action, which supports Obama's legislative agenda.

In Baucus' speech, he echoed similar sentiments: "...And I'll fight again for another strong Highway Bill this Congress - one that upholds good-paying Davis Bacon jobs. One in five Montana jobs rely on agriculture. That's why I'm fighting for a strong Farm Bill. That's why I've used my spot on the Senate Finance Committee to bring global business leaders to Montana to invest in jobs," he said.

The Mansfield-Metcalf dinner is a major yearly fundraiser for the Montana Democratic Party.
