Manhunt for armed Anaconda man continues

ANACONDA - Law enforcement is looking for an Anaconda man who is accused of pulling a gun on a man then stealing his truck and a gun and fleeing.

William Schmidt, 41, is a non-compliant violent offender.

On Monday afternoon, a man says he arrived at his Anaconda home and found Schmidt inside.

Schmidt then reportedly pulled out a firearm and ordered the man to the basement. Schmidt then stole a 9 millimeter pistol, money and a 1999 beige GMC Sierra pickup truck from the man, authorities say.

It is possible he could have at least two firearms.

Schmidt is described as being 6 feet tall, weighing 275 pounds, with short, dark hair.

The license plate of the stolen GMC Sierra is 30-2948A.

If you see this suspect or this truck, you are asked to call 911 and do not approach him.
