BIG SKY - A man remains in a Billings hospital tonight after a skiing accident at Big Sky Resort.
The accident happened when the man was coming down a run and slammed into the side of The Summit hotel on Friday afternoon.
The skier is reportedly a 50-year-old man. He was taken by helicopter with a head injury to a hospital in Billings. While they would not release any more information on Monday afternoon, Big Sky officials did confirm that the man is still alive. They wouldn't say if the man was local or from out of state.
The Summit was built in 2000 at the base of Tippy's Tumble. The intermediate run is within walking distance of the hotel. Big Sky officials would not comment if other skiers have hit the side of the hotel before.
Big Sky officials did not want to comment on the injuries the skier received, citing privacy for the family.
