Clancy Jon Williams was released from jail in Helena on Tuesday - and found himself in front of a judge not more than 24 hours later.

Williams, 30, was released from jail on Tuesday morning on a DUI charge, and then was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly stealing a classic car and driving away while under the influence.

Williams appeared in Helena Justice Court on Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly stole the 1954 Chevy Bel Air from Al Rose's Garage in Helena on Wednesday morning.

Due to the age of the vehicle, no keys are required to start it.

Randy Wildish was resting in a car parked right next to the one that Williams stole in the garage, and immediately chased after Williams.

Wildish said, "I took off after him and I lost him up above 11th Avenue, so I came back to the shop and called them (police) and they came down about two o'clock and interviewed me. Anyway, they busted the guy."

The vintage car was recovered later on 15th Street in Helena with a dead battery.

It was towed to the shop where it awaits restoration.

Williams is now in jail on his fourth DUI charge, which is a felony.
