The Lewis & Clark County Sheriff's office responded to a search and rescue call on Saturday morning.
Officials say the call was initiated via a SPOT satellite messenger at around 9 a.m., with reports that a man had been kicked by a mule, and was conscious and alert, but unable to move.
The man has been identified as Charles Chrisman of Great Falls, 68.
Chrisman was found on the south side of Gibson Dam, an area of land that is only accessible by foot, about 60 miles west of Great Falls.
Mercy Flight responded to the scene and airlifted Chrisman to Benefis hospital in Great Falls. The nature and extent of his injuries has not been released.
