A local teen receives a national prize for the charity he started with his best friend.
Josiah Utsch is a student at Headwaters Academy in Bozeman. He and Ridgley Kelley gave a presentation at the school today about their efforts to protect the nautilus, an ancient sea creature. The boys have raised nearly $20,000 for the cause and even traveled to American Samoa to be part of a research team studying the nautilus.
Josiah and Ridgley, who's from Maine, received the prestigious Barron Prize for young heroes.
They have this advice for other young people.
"Protect what you love," Josiah says. "If you have something you want to protect, protect it."
"If there's something you notice is in trouble in the world you should try to help if you're the one who notices," said Ridgely.
