Michele Marlene Hope of Lewistown, 37 years old, has been identified as the woman who was swept away in Spring Creek near the bridge of US Highway 191 North near Lewistown on Monday.
Central Montana Dispatch was notified just after 5:30 p.m. on Monday, and Lewistown Fire & Rescue, Fergus County Sheriff's Department, and Central Montana Medical Center Ambulance responded to the scene.
Hope's body was found by firefighters at a few minutes later, and life-saving efforts were performed by firefighter/EMT's at the scene; she was pronounced dead just after 6 p.m.
Fergus County Coroner Dick Brown says that the cause of death was an accidental fresh water drowning.
This incident is still being investigated by the Fergus County Sheriff's Office and the Fergus County Coroner's Office.
