Bozeman Police say a young boy escaped an enticement attempt near campus yesterday.
At around 4:15 Thursday afternoon, a white man tried to entice a nine-year-old boy who was riding his bike, to get in his car.
According to police, the man said "hey kid...come here...do you want to go with me."
The boy immediately rushed home and told his mom what had happened, which police say is exactly what children should do.
Officials spoke to the boy this morning and say he's doing well.
"Really scared that the incident happened but just for him to know he did the right thing," said Hal Richardson a Bozeman school resource officer. "Really brought his spirits up."
The encounter only lasted a few seconds and the boy, who was doing just what he should have, didn't stick around to get details on the driver.
Police say the vehicle involved was an older model, white sedan with the male described as being a white male, 40-50 years old, with short dark hair. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, comments or questions, call the Bozeman Police Department at 582-2000.
