Butte Silver-Bow Law enforcement is classifying a shooting that happened early Sunday morning as accidental.
Family and friends were gathered at a residence on the 2300 block of Elm Street. A small fight ensued between two individuals. A hand gun was taken out in the midst of the fight.
Law enforcement does not believe the weapon was pointed at anyone. A third individual tried to break up the fight. The gun fired. The bullet went through a 23-year-old man's hand and abdomen who tried to break-up the fight. Police responded and found the man outside.
The man was transported to St. James Hospital. Law enforcement does not believe the person who fired the gun meant to cause any harm.
The victim remains at the hospital. No arrest has been made and no charges have been filed.
