BOZEMAN - Law Day 2013 is underway at Montana State University.
The Montana Supreme Court started hearing oral arguments at MSU this morning in a case involving access to the Ruby River from a bridge on Seyler Lane, which is on appeal from the Fifth Judicial District.
This year's Law Day theme is "Realizing the Dream: Equality for All" and commorates the 150th anniversary of the issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation.
Events will also include a presentation by the winners of the 62nd Annual Rural Declamation Contest. Sixth, seventh and eighth grade students from rural schools in Gallatin County participated in written and oral declamation contests on an event that represents a significant turning point in the history of the United States. The public is invited to the winning presentations at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in Judge John Brown's courtroom in the Gallatin County Law & Justice Center.
