BILLINGS - Exxon Mobil is facing a new lawsuit in the aftermath of the Yellowstone River oil spill that released roughly 70,000 gallons of crude oil into the river in June 2011.

The lawsuit represents 14 plaintiffs who claim they have suffered harm to their property, livestock and health since the spill occurred more than one year ago.

Jory Ruggiero of Western Justice Associated Law firm in Bozeman is representing the landowners, arguing that Exxon Mobil must be held accountable for the incident - an incident that the suit claims could have been prevented.

The lawsuit was filed in State District Court of Gallatin County last Friday.

A separate, but similar lawsuit against Exxon involving 12 other landowners is currently pending in State District Court of Yellowstone County.

Both suits are set to go to trial in October of 2013.
