HELENA - The House Appropriations Committee passed House Bill 1, the Feed Bill, today.
The bill contains $8.5 million in spending to operate the 63rd Legislative session, including salaries and benefits for staff and health insurance and retirement benefits for legislators.
The legislator's salaries are not included in this bill; they will be included in the main budget bill. But legislators are paid just under $83 per day for every day of the session plus $110 a day in per diem to cover the costs of food and housing while they are in Helena.
Legislators are given the option to participate in the state's health insurance plan valued at $733 per month.
