Kevin Michael Sheldon of Helena, 51, was sentenced in federal court on Thursday to 480 months (40 years) in prison after being found guilty of sexual exploitation of minors and receipt of child pornography.

The US Attorney's Office states that because there is no parole in the federal system, the "truth in sentencing" guidelines mandate that Sheldon will likely serve all of the time imposed by the court.

In the federal system, Sheldon does have the opportunity to earn a sentence reduction for good behavior, but this reduction will not exceed 15% of the overall sentence.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched in May 2006 by the U.S. Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Sheldon was also sentenced to lifetime supervised release.
