HELENA - A bicyclist was hit and killed by a drunk driver on Wednesday night in Helena.
The victim has been identified as 29-year old Benjamin John Homan (pictured above).
It happened on the 3500 block of North Montana Avenue at about 10:40 pm.
Officials say that Homan was riding his bicycle northbound when he was hit by a car driven by 49-year old Joel Powers of Helena.
After hitting Homan, Powers drove to his home two blocks away, and then walked back to the scene, where he reportedly admitted that he had hit Holman.
Powers is facing four charges, including felony vehicular homicide while under the influence and felony aggravated DUI.
Homan was wearing a helmet and reflective gear; he was taken to St. Peter's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Powers is scheduled to make his initial court appearance on Thursday afternoon.
