Helena man charged with raping teen

William Schroeder of Helena has been arrested and charged with raping a 13-year old girl.
Schroeder, 30, appeared in Justice Court on Thursday after being charged with one count of sexual intercourse without consent and a probation violation.
According to court documents, Schroeder told authorities he thought the girl was 17-years old.
Documents say he took the girl shopping for clothes before taking her to a Helena motel room where the alleged incident occurred.
The alleged victim reportedly scratched Schroeder on the back while trying to push him away.
The court reports also say that the alleged victim knew the assailant and used to babysit his children.
Schroeder was given a $100,000 bond.
The girl's mother was in the courtroom during Thursday's hearing; she told the judge she planned to file a protection order in the event Schroeder is released.
