ANACONDA-Another highly contagious virus is showing up in Anaconda, but this one is not as severe as Pertussis.

Hand, Foot and Mouth disease is making it's rounds in the community and is fairly common.

The illness is not required to be tracked by the state health department.

It's an intestinal virus that is common in children under the age of 5.
Adults can contract the illness but that is more rare.

"It just runs it's course. It's just simply a virus and we like to know if it's happening and have an idea of what kind of diseases are present in our community but that's not a huge concern at this point," says Anaconda Deer Lodge Public Health Director Heidi Nielsen.

Nielsen says the illness can be contracted by mucus, stools and saliva.
