KALISPELL - Montana wildlife officials caught a 4-year-old male grizzly bear earlier this week near the Meadow Lake Golf Course near Columbia Falls.
Grizzly bear management specialist Tim Manley of Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks said that the bear had been reported eating apples in residential areas over the past week.
The 333-pound grizzly was captured about 50 yards from a residence in the vicinity of Chubb Lane and was released on Wednesday in the upper Whale Creek area of the North Fork of the Flathead drainage.
Manley says the bear hadn't been caught before and has now been fitted with a radio collar so that FWP biologists can follow its movements.
