MISSOULA - Griz nation is in mourning as a member of its 2001 national championship squad has passed away. Curt Colter died of heart disease on Tuesday at age 33.
He lettered four times for the Grizzlies and starred at defensive tackle on Montana's last championship team. He followed his older brother D.J. from eight-man football in Hysham to the Grizzlies.
Recently, he managed a vacuum store in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Colter is the second lineman from the 2001 team to die at a young age. Defensive end Tim Bush passed away in an Idaho mining accident two years ago.
He leaves behind a wife and a young daughter.
