GREAT FALLS - John Galvan made his initial court appearance on several drug charges on Friday.
Galvan was arrested on Wednesday when he was allegedly attempting to deliver several pounds of marijuana.
The Russell Country Drug Task Force searched Galvan's pickup truck on Wednesday afternoon in the alley between 10th Street NW and 11th Street NW near 5th Avenue NW.
Charges against Galvan include criminal distribution of dangerous drugs (felony), criminal possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute (felony), and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor).
Court documents state that police found approximately three pounds of marijuana in his truck.
They reportedly found another five pounds of marijuana at his home on Lower River Road, along with a scale, packaging material, and marijuana pipes.
This isn't the first time Galvan has been in trouble with the law.
In 2007 he was sentenced for "bribery official and political matters," and in 2006 he was sentenced for criminal distribution of dangerous drugs.
Galvan is also listed on the violent offender registry for an aggravated assault case in 1998.
Bail for Galvan was set at $25,000.
