KALISPELL - Government agencies all over the country have felt the effects of sequestration, and the latest cuts will affect more than 1000 airports next month, including Glacier Park International Airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration has announced the Kalispell airport as one of 149 federal contract towers that will be closed starting April 7. However, the airport will continue to operate.
Glacier is the now the only airport in Montana affected by the closure as federal officials have decided to keep the tower at the Helena airport open after initially saying it too would be shuttered.
The FAA proposed closing 189 contract air traffic controls towers earlier this month, but decided to leave 16 of those towers open under the "cost share" program.
