Gas prices in western Montana have fallen below three dollars a gallon this week.
This marks the first time in a year the price of a gallon of regular has been below three dollars, mirroring a similar cut that lasted for a few weeks last January.
According to AAA, gas prices in 2012 were the most expensive on record, with a national average of $3.60 a gallon.
The state with the highest national average for 2012 was Hawaii, at $4.31 per gallon.
