BOZEMAN - We now know that a bear captured on Wednesday in Bozeman is a young female. The bear wandered into town on Wednesday and climbed up an apple tree behind a house in the 700 block of North Rouse.
The bear was tranquilized and after a short time she fell out of the tree into a tarp below.
FWP officials say she's likely the same bear that's been spotted for several weeks on the "M" trail.
She was taken to the FWP office in Bozeman to be evaluated by a veterinarian.
MT FWP's Andrea Jones said, "She's probably about a year and a half, 18-months-old, looks healthy, normal, we're keeping her fed, she'll be ear-tagged...giving her apples in the meantime."
FWP officials plan to relocate the bear as soon as possible somewhere in the Madison range.
