HELENA - With Interior Secretary Ken Salazar announcing Wednesday that he plans to step down in March, the speculation is underway as to who might replace him.

As yet, the White House is offering no hint as to who might be in the running, but that isn't stopping the speculation.

KING TV in Seattle says it is hearing the search for a possible successor may be focused on outgoing Washington State Gov. Christine Gregoire, who leaves office next Wednesday.

Former Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer is also considered to be a possible candidate for the Interior job, but Schweitzer told Q2 News today that he's not interested.

"If you can't type, you can't be a secretary," said Schweitzer, admitting that he types with his thumbs.

On a more serious note, the former Montana governor said he doubts there's anyone who could talk him into taking a job "back there".

Schweitzer spoke to us by phone today as he was traveling out of state with his wife Nancy.
