First adult infected with whooping cough recent outbreak in Anaconda

ANACONDA-The whooping cough or Pertussis outbreak in Anaconda has been confirmed in the first adult.

25 Anaconda individuals are now confirmed to have the illness.

The adult is the parent of a student that came into contact with a sick classmate.

There is an estimated 460 people in Anaconda that have come into contact with Pertussis.

The Anaconda Deer Lodge Health Department stresses that those that have been instructed to seek healthcare and antibiotics to please do so.

A few close contacts that were instructed to see a doctor and take antibiotics failed to do so and then became sick with Pertussis.

A vaccination is available at the Anaconda Health Department.
