Butte-Silver Bow is under regular fire restrictions for the month of November, according to Fire Investigator John Lasky.
Forest slash and burn is only permitted in rural areas. Barbeques and small fire pits that were banned throughout the summer are permitted for recreational use. All fire pits must be made of steel and be at least three feet in diameter, according to Lasky.
In Butte people have been confused with the fire restrictions and the recent weather change, Lasky said.
"They figure since we have snow they can basically go back to open burning, but it refers back to state law which is the month of November is only forestry slash in rural areas," Lasky said.
Fire restrictions will change at the end of the month. All of this information and more is available at mt.gov/fire.
