A DNRC controlled burn north of Great Falls on Wednesday got out of control and burned 560 acres of both state and private land.
It happened near Anderson Road and Klatt Road, about six miles off of I-15
The fire was originally supposed to burn 160 acres of DNRC trust land, and officials were also planning to do a second controlled burn not far away.
Officials tell us they lost control of the fire on the north edge around 12:30.
The fire got past the point of what their five engines on scene could handle and they ran out of water.
They filled up nearby and called for more resources.
Multiple volunteer agencies from both Cascade and Teton counties helped get control of the fire by 3:30 p.m.
No one was injured, and no crops or structures were burned.
