A fiber cable between Butte and Warm Springs was accidentally cut Wednesday evening causing widespread phone and internet outages. According to Centurylink, service is affected in Butte, Anaconda and Deer Lodge. Company spokesman John Bemis says they have crews on the scene working to repair the cable and that service should be returned sometime Wednesday night. We have heard reports of the DISH network and Direct TV being down, as well. However, we have not confirmed that the cut cable is responsible for those outages.
