HARDIN - Hardin residents witnessed a commotion on Monday as authorities tried to track down Idaho fugitive, 36-year-old Rodney Lee Seiber.
One of those witnesses, Gail Geier, a Front Desk Attendant at the Super 8 Motel in Hardin tells us they made the call that tipped off law enforcement. A short time later, Geier also watched Seiber dodge deputies.
Motel employees noticed Seiber inside of a teepee displayed in front of the Hardin motel. At the time, motel employees did not know he was wanted for crimes in Idaho. They contacted deputies to have him removed.
Upon the arrival of Big Horn County Sheriff's Deputies, Seiber took off on foot, ran into the hotel, jumped out of a first floor window and then escaped into a field.
"There were a lot of cops over here," Geier said. "I think there were probably 8 of them that were around here. They had them up on the interstate, down by the off ramp, they brought the dogs in from Billings. They were doing a good job."
Despite Seiber's escape, Deputies did arrest his 18-year-old girlfriend Brittany Robbins for trespassing, obstruction and resisting arrest. She is being held at the Big Horn County jail.
Monday's search lasted for 20 hours and resumed Tuesday morning. As of Tuesday afternoon, Seiber had not been captured.
Authorities say additional evidence was discovered on Tuesday indicates he is still in the Hardin area. Big Horn County officials say other local jurisdictions are now involved with the search.
