UPDATE - U.S. drought monitor shows a persistent drought spread out across the central states extending up into south-central Montana.
This weeks active weather pattern across Montana has boosted mountain snow pack snow/water percent of average values, however, much more is needed especially throughout southern Montana.
A narrow ban of Severe drought conditions continues from Dillon to Bozeman with moderately dry to abnormally dry conditions for the rest of SW Montana.
Red Lodge to Billings to Hardin continues to experience Extreme drought conditions and much of the southern half of Montana is in some state of drought as of January 29th, 2013.
