Deer Lodge man accused of stabbing wife to death appears in court

A Deer Lodge man made his initial court appearance after allegedly stabbing his wife to death.
Dennis Schowengerdt, 65, is charged with felony deliberate homicide. He reportedly stabbed his wife, Tina Schowengerdt, 66, with a foot-long knife at the couple's home Saturday night. She died from her injuries.
Schowengerdt reportedly thought about running from authorities, but instead, turned himself in Sunday morning.
He is being held at a Powell County Detention Center.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 18.
Schowengerdt owns MRC gas station in Deer Lodge.
