BUFFALO - A few weeks after the Dolphins released Pro Bowl kicker Dan Carpenter, giving the job to a fifth-round pick, Carpenter has a new job in Buffalo.
After Bills kicker Dustin Hopkins injured his groin in practice Monday, the team signed Carpenter, according to ESPN.
Carpenter had spent time with the Cardinals and Jets this preseason before he found himself unemployed a week before the regular season began.
The best part for Carpenter: he was on his way to Cleveland for a Tuesday tryout with the Browns. He actually landed in Cleveland and then had to grab his bags to fly to Buffalo to sign with the Bills.
Not a bad way to spend a Labor Day.
