HELENA - Lewis and Clark County Search and Rescue crews have recovered the body of a man who died during a hunting trip.

The call came in around 5 am on Friday, but the rescue stretched into the day due to the weather conditions.

A hunting group reported that someone in their party had died and they needed assistance getting the person out.

The group was located off of Beartooth Road in the Beartooth Game Range near Cottonwood Creek.

Sheriff Leo Dutton said, "We don't see anything that looked suspicious or there is no indication of foul play. We did have a mishap with one of the search and rescue vehicles, so that's what took us so long. It is very treacherous out and the roads are very slick."

Dutton says his crews worked alongside Fish and Game to assist in the recovery.

The name of the person has not yet been released.
