Paul and Gloria Hurtgen lost nearly everything when the Beartrap 2 Fire roared across their property. Due to the actions of one diligent Sheriff's deputy, they escaped with their lives.
"The fire jumped the river" says Paul Hurtgen, recounting the incident, "Oh, how long've we got? He (the deputy) says, "You don't...out!"
All that was left was a foundation and unrecognizable remains of their home, but now, months later, construction on a new house has finished, and the Hurtgens are moving back in.
"I love it more each day," says Gloria Hurtgen, "and it's gonna be even better when I get everything put away"
Paul found their parcel, years ago, when driving around the area with a cousin. He says, when he saw the place, his heart literally skipped a beat.
The Hurtgens want to thank so many in the local communities for the support they've received in the last few months.
