In two weeks the Butte-Silver Bow Council will decide if they approve of a Homeland Security Grant for a new Emergency Operations Center.
The grant is worth nearly $470,000, according to Roger Ebner, coordinator for Emergency Management Services.
The operations center will be shared by the Montana Highway Patrol. The total cost is $3.2 million. The county and the State of Montana will nearly split the cost, according to Ebner.
The new facility will be located at the current Butte Driver's Exam Station. Butte-Silver Bow has already paid nearly 90 percent of their share in construction costs. The State Legislature is still in the process of approving their half of the cost.
