What if a family member of yours suffered a life-threatening illness? Would your friends and neighbors step up to help?

The friends of one Manhattan family certainly have, by holding a charity auction for Richard Macrow, who was flown to Salt Lake City in January for a brain aneurism.

Edye Macrow, Richard's wife, says the love has been and support have kept flowing from both friends and strangers, as residents packed the American Legion post in Manhattan for the auction Saturday night.

Edye says the money raised at the auction will go to cover necessary expenses, as the family supports Richard's recovery

"This is helping my family, kids, come back and forth and be able to be with their dad a little bit, more than we could've." says Edye, who also said the money will help cover what insurance would not.

If you're interested in helping the Macrows, an account in Richard's name has been set up at Manhattan State Bank in Manhattan.
