The Chippewa Cree Business Committee has decided to expel chairman Ken St. Marks, ten days after they suspended him.
The committee held a closed meeting in Rocky Boy on Monday morning to give chairman St.Marks a chance to answer to the charges against him, but members say St. Marks refused to enter committee chambers.
St. Marks is accused of employee harassment, sexual harassment, financial misconduct, unauthorized expenditures, and illegal employment practices.
Vice chairman Richard Morsette said, "The Chairman repeatedly disregarded the Constitutional mandates and process. Now we must move forward working for the betterment of the Tribe and our members."
We spoke with St. Marks on Monday afternoon, and he maintains that the charges are false and what the committee is doing is illegal.
He says he believes this started as retaliation because he questioned where millions of dollars of tribal money has gone.
St. Marks says he will continue fighting for his position.
