The Connecticut school shooting has inspired local law enforcement to patrol assigned schools in the area.
Butte-Silver Bow Law Enforcement officers came up with the idea.
Officers would be assigned to neighborhood schools to patrol more frequently on their down time while working.
These could be schools that officers live near and feel they should patrol.
There are already two school resource officers in Butte schools that oversee the district.
Next month law enforcement will meet with the Superintendent of Butte Schools to discuss safety procedures.
