The Butte-Silver Council of Commissioners unanimously appointed Cindi Shaw as their new chairman of the council.
"I know there is some work set out for me, but I really feel good that my fellow commissioners had enough confidence that I would be the best candidate," Shaw said.
Shaw, commissioner of Butte District 11, was appointed Monday. Shaw is finishing her sixth year as a council member. The last two years she served as vice chair to the council.
Shaw will replace Dave Palmer, who served as chair for the last two terms.
In Shaw's time as a commissioner her primary focus was safety. Shaw said she hopes to continue to make Butte a safe environment.
Shaw looks forward to joining the new administration and working with the four new members on the council.
Shaw will assume her duties on January 1, 2013.
