BUTTE - A Butte man is in critical condition at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls after being struck by a vehicle while he crossing Harrison Avenue on Friday night.
According to Butte-Silver Bow County Sheriff Ed Lester, the accident happened at around 8 p.m. on the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue. The man was attempting to cross from east to west when a dark sedan struck him in the southbound lane.
The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to St. James Healthcare in Butte initially but was then life-flighted to Benefis Hospital in Great Falls.
Sheriff Lester says alcohol has been ruled out as a factor in the accident and they are awaiting the results of a detailed toxicology report.
At present, no citations have been issued and names of the driver as well as the pedestrian who was struck, are being withheld as the investigation continues.
