BUTTE - A Butte man running the Boston Marathon crossed the finish line an hour before the explosions.
Matt Choquette says he was leaving his hotel room when a woman asked him if he'd heard explosions. He said this was the first he'd heard of explosions at the marathon.
Choquette then met his family in the hotel lobby. Their hotel was about two blocks away from the finish line.
Ambulances, police and fire trucks filled the streets outside.
Choquette says the area is completely blocked off to transit.
"It's crazy here," he said.
Thousands of runners still had not finished the race when the explosions occurred.
Choquette says his family will be staying in the hotel tonight.
"I feel fortunate that I finished when I did, but it kind of ruins a good day for everybody. It was a lot of fun up until this point," he said.
